As the ravens fly and darkness returns to the forests of northern Sweden, we relight the fires that have been burning here for thousands of years. In the first weekend of August some eight thousand people gather in the small village of Näsåker, to enjoy music, dancing, poetry and love, in a beautiful landscape of forests, rivers and hills.

Welcome to Näsåker to celebrate Urkult's 20th anniversary!

Urkult is an eco-friendly, hippie-style world music festival that’s been around since 1995. It is both a folk and world music celebration. It is a meeting place and a source for inspiration.

During three days in the beginning of August Urkult offers you both unadorned and calm as well as wild and crazy music - in one of the most beautfiful places a festival can be staged at.

A natural amphitheater framed by the pine forests of northern Sweden against a background of Ångermanälven and its mighty noise. Urkult is always opened with a grand event, The Firenight. A magic spectacle with drums, song, dancing and fire.

However Urkult is not just music and concerts – every year work shops and courses are arranged in dance, song and yoga, to name just a few.

In the circus tent children gets the starring role. Courses in acrobatics, circus arts and crafts are mixed with theater and performances. A welcoming and safe atmosphere goes through the whole festival, which is renowned to be a great place for family and children.
