Tolerance & Understanding

Pirineos Sur (South Pyrenees) Festival Internacional de las Culturas is a musical and cultural festival which is held annually in the town of Lanuza, Huesca, Spain. Over two weeks diverse concerts and exhibitions, workshops, markets and parades are held.

The Festival is located in the town of Lanuza, a few kilometers from Sallent de Gallego. The floating stage is located in the swamp of Lanuza and sits on the mountainside. The whole enclave is surrounded by the Pyrenees which gives stunning natural beauty.

The main objective of the Festival is to create bonds of tolerance and understanding among different cultures. Similarly, it is a great tourist attraction for the area. The annual influx usually varies, in 2007 more than 50,000 people attended the festival throughout its two weeks.

The musical styles vary from Flamenco, Hip Hop, Salsa or Folk to African percussion, Reggae and Jazz. The stage has seen artists of international stature like Carlinhos Brown, Compay Segundo, Orishas and Alpha Blondy. Equally important is the national affluence: Antonio Carmona, José Mercé, Carmen París, Ojos de Brujo, Macaco or Paco de Lucía.
