Guy Gestin, President of Lorient Interceltic Festival (LIF), and Lisardo Lombardia, Executive Director, announced positive results for this edition, with the second best ticket sales in the history of the festival!

700,000 festival-goers kept on attending the several events of one of the most important gathering of Celtic cultures and one of the biggest festival in Europe!

Some figures of this edition:

  • 700,000 festival-goers;

  • 60,000 people in the streets of Lorient during the Grand Parade of the Celtic Nations (and 10,000 more in the Stadium for the arrival);

  • 8 concerts sold out (Cotriade, Australia Inauguration Evening, Joan Baez, Alan Stivell, Dan Ar Braz, 70th anniversary of Sonerion, Cécile Corbel and the Grande Nuit for the harp);

  • 8,000 spectators for the closing concert of The Corrs;

  • more than 50,000 collector’s badges sold to support the festival and have access to the main sites;

  • more than 1,400,000 viewers followed the broadcast of the Grand Parade on France 3 (national public television channel).

    The direction also wishes to insist on the importance of the festival as a gathering and meeting place. Despite the last events, the public trusted the festival and many came to Lorient to celebrate this mixed and colourful culture.

    The festival is above all 10 days of music programming with 4,500 artists from all over the world, 200 concerts, 12 stages and 1,600 volunteers!

    After the success of this Year of Australia during which the public discovered amazing artists … let’s meet next year from the 4th to the 13th August 2017 for the Year of Scotland!
